We are a small clinic that specialises in helping young people develop greater insights into their feelings, thoughts and behaviours. We support our clients on their journey to becoming more mindful and confident. We listen carefully as we walk beside clients, facilitating positive outcomes based on identified challenges and goals.
We are patient and accepting, appreciating it can be a little confronting to seek help initially. We get that younger kids aren’t made to sit still, so we use play-based approaches to break the ice and encourage fun and movement within their therapy. We notice small gains and love celebrating these.
Our intervention is individualized, being flexible and sensitive to client needs. We include parents in the client’s journey as requested. We work with schools and allied health professionals regularly.
Our clients tend to enjoy coming, sometimes telling us they encourage others to visit too. We’re pretty sure it’s not just the fun games and art/craft activities that keeps them coming back.
We love what we do.
Evoke Psychologists Peter Marcon and Lisa Flowers bring many years of experience working with children and adolescents across a multitude of educational and clinical settings. Every day we do our best to help every individual we see achieve progress towards their goals, and that they enjoy the process along the way. We are a small clinic with a big heart.
Helping young people and their families manage family life challenges is something we do daily. Our clients and their parents often state how helpful it is to share concerns with a supportive professional who can facilitate ways to improve a situation. We are consultative in our approach, negotiating strategies as clients strive to reach their goals. We help clients and their parents to grow in confidence and to feel empowered.
Most common challenges we support include self-regulation, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, confidence, sibling issues, negative self-talk, social concerns, teenage resistance / challenging of boundaries, self-harming, risk taking behaviours, parent separation / re-partnering, blended families, conflict with or between parents, adjusting to transitions, grief and loss.
We can provide assessments for individuals from toddlers to high school age, identifying the nature and degree of specific learning concerns. We can then provide tailored programming to support these areas of concern.
You may have been referred by your GP or Specialist, or you might choose to visit of your own accord, either way is fine. When you call to make an appointment, you will be asked to complete an intake form which provides us with a general overview of your situation for the initial session. While the current Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended fee for psychological services is $251, our fee is $175 for a 50-minute session.
We suggest you book at least two appointments within a month to start with, ensuring there is opportunity for an intervention to gain traction. We will discuss frequency of support at the end of the initial appointment. By then we will also have a better idea as to how long the intervention may take.
We send an SMS reminder text 4 days before each appointment, and kindly ask that these are responded to with a simple Yes or No. We ask that if you need to cancel or reschedule, you do so at least 24 hours before the allocated time. We also send a reminder email 2 days before each appointment, doing our best to ensure you are fully informed of the appointment details. Cancellations or requests to reschedule made within 24 hrs of the appointment time will attract an administration fee of 50 % of the session fee. A no show will incur the full fee being charged.
We are registered for Medicare (Better Access to Mental Health and Enhanced Primary Care Plan) and Private Health Fund Rebates. Payments are to be paid on the day of the appointment. The Medicare rebate is currently $87.45 per session for up to 20 sessions a calendar year. Check with your GP or specialist to see if you meet criteria to access support through Medicare.
